Terms of Use
Last updated 3 October 2026 · Version 0.1
These terms are the agreement between you and Hujra. Please read them. We have tried to keep them short and plain.
Who runs Hujra
Hujra (the app, and the website at hujra.app) is run by [Owner full name], an individual based in [City, Country]. In these terms "we" and "us" means the person running Hujra, and "you" means you, the person using it.
Questions about these terms: privacy@hujra.app.
Who may use Hujra
- Anyone may read the public parts of the website.
- To sign in you need a mobile number, or a Google or Apple account.
- If you are under 18, use Hujra only with your parent's or guardian's knowledge.
- Young children do not sign in. A parent or guardian makes and manages their child's account, books their classes and speaks for them.
- One person, one account. Do not make accounts for other adults.
How to behave
Hujra is for people of every background and every school of thought. Different views are welcome here, side by side. What is not welcome:
- Hate, insults, or mocking anyone for their sect, school, background or beliefs.
- Harassment, threats or bullying, in public or in private.
- Spam, unwanted advertising, or misleading links.
- Pretending to be someone else, or claiming a role or qualification you do not have.
- Sharing anyone's private details without their permission.
- Anything illegal, sexual, or harmful to children.
Be honest, be respectful, and assume good intentions in others.
What you write
You can write articles, khutbas, class chat messages and other things on Hujra.
- You keep the rights to what you write.
- By posting it, you give us permission (a licence) to store it, show it in the app and on the website, and share it with the people it is meant for, for as long as it is on Hujra. This permission is free and worldwide. It ends when your content is deleted, except for copies already in backups, which are cleared over time.
- You are responsible for what you post. Do not post anything you do not have the right to share.
- Articles from new writers are read by a reviewer before they are published. A reviewer may send a piece back with a note, or decline it. Review checks these rules and basic quality. It does not decide which view is right.
Reporting and removal
If you see something that breaks these rules, use the report button or write to privacy@hujra.app. We look at every report. We may hide or remove content, and we may limit or close accounts that break these rules. Content that gets many reports may be hidden automatically until a reviewer looks at it.
Teachers and child safety
Teachers on Hujra agree to some extra rules, because many students are children.
- A teacher must be approved for each course before teaching it.
- To teach children, a teacher must pass a background check.
- A parent or guardian can join any of their child's classes at any time, without warning.
- Classes are never recorded unless recording is switched on with consent: the student's, and for a child, the parent's. In a group class, every family must agree.
- Teachers must be patient, kind and professional. No meeting students outside Hujra without the parent's knowledge, no private messages with children, no harsh punishment, and no asking for personal details.
- We may suspend a teacher straight away while we look into a complaint.
Classes
- Classes are audio by default. Video is used only where it is needed.
- Class chat is seen by everyone in the class, including parents. It is kept for 90 days, then deleted.
- Teachers keep simple records of attendance and progress, which the student and their parent can see.
Payments
- During the free test period, classes on Hujra are free.
- Later, fees for classes will be agreed between the teacher and the family, and paid directly to the teacher. Hujra is not part of that payment.
- Any fee for using Hujra as a teacher is agreed between Hujra and the teacher. Families will be told before anything changes for them.
Mosques and roles
- Mosque information comes from the mosques themselves and from people who use Hujra. It can be out of date or wrong.
- Prayer and jamaat times are set by each mosque's team. Please check with your mosque, especially in Ramadan and on Eid.
- The Qibla direction is a guide, worked out from your phone's location and compass. Phones can be wrong, so check it where you can.
- Roles such as committee member, imam or madrasa administrator are given only after a check. Use your role honestly, and only for your mosque or madrasa. We may remove a role that is misused.
Religious content is for learning
Articles, khutbas, courses, books and answers on Hujra are for learning. They are not a fatwa or a ruling for your situation. For a question about your own life, please ask a qualified scholar you trust.
Other people's rights
- Quran text and translations are shown with credit to their sources.
- Books in the library belong to their authors and publishers, and are shared with their permission or because they are free to share.
- Hujra's name, design and software belong to us. Please do not copy them.
Adding a book. Only add a book you have the right to share: you wrote it, you are the publisher or have their written permission, or it is out of copyright. Every book is checked before it appears in the library, and we remove a book when someone shows us it is shared without permission. Adding books that break copyright can close your account.
If you believe something on Hujra uses your work without permission, write to privacy@hujra.app and we will look at it quickly.
Suspension and closing accounts
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or is used to deceive. Where it is safe to do so, we will tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, write to us.
You can stop using Hujra at any time.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in the app (Profile, then Account, then Delete my account) or on the website at hujra.app/delete-account.
- Your account is deleted 7 days after you ask. If you sign in during those 7 days, you can cancel.
- Your personal details, your private things (such as habits, bookmarks, reading progress, quiz answers, notifications and class requests), your job applications and CVs, and your private uploads are deleted.
- Things you published for others to read (articles, khutbas and library books) are either deleted or kept under the name "Former member". You choose when you ask.
- Job posts you made are closed.
- Things that belong to a mosque or madrasa, such as announcements, page changes and prayer times you set, stay with the mosque under "Former member".
- Records that belong to other people, such as a teacher's class attendance and lesson records, homework results, reports you made and reviews, stay but show "Former member" instead of your name.
- If you teach, your open classes are cancelled and your students are told. Your mosque or madrasa roles end, and the team is told.
- Your children's accounts that you manage are deleted too, unless another guardian also manages that child.
The Privacy Policy explains this in more detail.
Disclaimers
We work hard to keep Hujra accurate, safe and available, but we provide it "as it is". We cannot promise that it will always work, or that everything on it is correct. Teachers, mosques and writers are responsible for what they say and do.
Limits on our responsibility
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, or for losses caused by other users, by wrong information from a mosque or writer, or by events outside our control. Nothing in these terms takes away a right that the law says cannot be taken away.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Hujra grows. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using Hujra after a change, the new terms apply.
Law
These terms are governed by the laws of [Country]. Any dispute goes to the courts of [City, Country], unless the law where you live gives you a different right.
